it's been a while. coming to japanese event like this always reminded me of my childhood and youth. days filled with getting home quickly after school and woke up early sunday morning to watch all the animes. also days of me trying to memorize and understand my favorite bands' lyrics, which made me decide to pursue degree in japanese literature.

looking back, it seems like such a distant past.

every time going to see matsuri, i felt like transported back to my younger years. time stopped and things going on just okay. an escapade in form of another culture. i can just sit at the pavement, eating takoyaki, listening to cover band music, and all my troubles seem so far away. no worries at all.

maybe i left my innocence there. in this period of time where the only thing i worried about is how to wake up early to watch sunday morning cartoon.

filler post. sorta
photo taken sometime ago when i was (finally) making trip to major street in jakarta, gatot soebroto (equivalent to new york's wall street). working in a less hectic region of jakarta have made me used to less traffic, less time to commute from work, and so on. but one day, having an appointment in such business region in jakarta made me have to commute there.

guess what, all those traffic jam made me crazy. i barely cannot stand 1,5 hour to commute to work, let alone all those long traffic jam since 6 am in the morning that my friends from outer jakarta have to face everywhere on their way to work. kudos and props, but i am so done.

somewhere while waiting for the bus, i snapped this photo. trying to avoid the long march of various vehicles on the street, i look at the sky.

in other note, a bingsoo would be nice.

other things:
finally an iphone i covet after 5s
seeing kim kardashian in (sorta) new light
that blanket of snow, tho. also photo goals with the torii
missing those young, innocent days
more like a guide to dreamland
things you'll only see on streets of jakarta. i swear i can attest to 70% of that. not that this city is weird, it's just different lol
it just hits too close to home

have a great weekend, everyone!

donburi ichiya. lippo mall puri @ the st. moritz
off for quick fix of japanese food last weekend. been meaning to go here since my friend heavily raved their dishes. my verdict? it was pretty nice.

i'm always a fan of seafood and i find their aburi salmon don with mayo (above) tasted decent. the torched salmon was half raw, but yummy and somewhat juicy. definitely not fishy. i quite like it. the mini portion above was just right for small (yet often) eater like me. but i kinda find their vegetable fritters is somewhat dry.

the restaurant is nice. kind of reminds me of small restaurants in japan as i usually seen on people's traveling photos. they play some old japanese songs too.

definitely coming back to try their other menus!

august in a nutshell -- sort of
august was hectic. no doubt. i briefly caught my breath and, bam! it's september already. time is passing too fast. so here's what's august have been to me.

it's a little after ramadhan and it's time for the weddings! syawal, the month after, has been to be known as the good month to hold the marriage. so far i've been attending three weddings in july-august. everything's been lovely and nice and full of happiness! managed to meet some of the old friends and ex-coworkers during the events. just amazing. judging from the bunch of invitations i just got, seems like the wedding march won't slow down anytime soon.

that. godly. masterpiece. how do i even start? tvxq released their special album in mid-july and it's all sorts of wonderful. all the classic sounds along with some edm tunes are just perfect. been in my heavy playlist since then.

also, august was the month of me catching up with some old friends. be it on the weddings, or some simple meetups. and never enough. being the pack of hectic people we are, not to mention some have been lived someplace far, it's pretty hard to find time in which we can gather together just for some catch up session. but i'm glad we managed to meet in august. looking forward to more meetings and catch ups in september!

how's your august?

p. s. i swear my duckface is unintentional! sorry for that ._.
